these dreams don't often come true. |

For
Asia Heart Foundation this
project is close to our hearts, as we believe that this is not just
a question of helping others but helping our future. We are
privileged to have created some of the best heart hospitals of
India. We brought high technology heart surgery to the level of a
common man. We proved to the world that by paying just Rs.5 a month
you can run world’s largest micro health insurance program, we made
telemedicine a reality in association with
ISRO and we introduced new techniques of treating various
heart diseases. Keeping this in mind we would like to mentor and
guide these meritorious children. |

scholarship program will give us a platform to share their
aspirations to become doctors and also create a bond with these
children that will extend beyond the time that they spend in the
program |

Today most
medical colleges, both Government and private, are filled with
children of doctors and other professionals mainly coming from urban
India. Twenty years ago any brilliant child from a village could
aspire to become doctor since the living expenses in the cities was
not very high. With more prosperity in all Indian towns where most
medical colleges are located, farmer’s child has no place. Can we
reverse this trend? |

Keeping
this in mind we have set the ball rolling by starting this
scholarship program, which will launch 150 rural students of on a
journey to become qualified doctors. These 150 students in West
Bengal is a start but can only begin to address the situation. In
the future we will extend this program to 2000 students annually,
making it 2000 more doctors for India every year. To do this we
need your help, support and generous contribution. We want this
program be launched only in West Bengal since West Bengal is close
to our heart. |
