Guidelines For The Transport Of Critically ill Patients In Rabindranath Tagore International Institute Of Cardiac Science

When attending a call, the ambulance is staffed by:

  • One driver
  • One helper
  • One experienced paramedic
  • One trained medical officer, if required

Our Critical Care Network

For efficient medical monitoring of the patient’s condition, the institute has qualified personnel with knowledge and skills sufficient to evaluate and stabilize patients with potentially lethal or disabling conditions. What makes our critical care network stand out and rise above the rest is that most of the medical officers and staff are trained in advanced life support services.

The network is responsible for the coordination and development of transfer services within definite areas. The network comprises medical officers, paramedical personnel, ambulance driver and one Manager, whose responsibility is to develop referral pathway, handle transfer protocols and undertake quality assurance programmes, so as to identify the nature, number and types of beds available within a set network.

Design Of Intensive Care Ambulance:

  • Able to carry up to four members (hospital staff) in addition to ambulance crew.

  • Seats are fitted with head-restraints and three-point inertia reel seat belts.

  • Seats allotted for the staff are front-facing.

  • Centrally mounted patient trolley allowing for all-round patient access.

  • Air conditioning and humidity control.

  • Two oxygen cylinders in secure housing.

  • Adequate lighting inside the ambulance.

  • Mobile telephone to communicate with referring and/or receiving hospital.

  • Regular maintenance and service done, to ensure stable, comfortable ride with minimal noise and vibration levels.
