ssssssssssssssssssssssss

You have survived health crises. You have been on medication and special care. Survival from a life crises releases euphoria. However, depression is a common sequel to this euphoria. You yourself have to make a personal effort to adopt a mental attitude of expectation of full recovery, rather than resignation to ill health. No one can do this for you. The others can only help by support but it is essentially your personal contribution to your recovery.

The other concerned worry is being left alone in the house when others have to be out. There is nothing to panic about it. You will soon come to realize that you are safe alone. During the first few days at home, continue the same routine as during the last few days  in the hospital.

  • Stair climbing should be done daily. Both legs should be placed in the same step at the landing, stand and relax for 30 seconds. (Do slow breathing exercise meanwhile)

  • Gradually increase the intensity and duration of exercise

  • Avoid leaning forward

  • Avoid carrying heavy objects (not more than 3 kgs)

  • Avoid abrupt weight bearing on one hand and jerky movements

  • Avoid driving for 8 weeks

  • Avoid sexual activity for six weeks and then may be started slowly with easy postures.

Family Support

Your family members, friends are understandably, worried about you, they are all concerned to do the best for you and in their concern, they become- over- protective. This is comfortable for you but unhelpful in the long- term. The ultimate goal for you is to stand on your feet and control your life. During recovery, you should be encouraged to do as much as you feel inclined but not pushed beyond your inclination.

A coronary heart disease patient is often middle – aged and has a number of financial and family commitments and uncertainty about future . It is often important for a patient’s spouse or family to visit the patient and to explain how family and business affairs can be tackled and give the patient the peace of mind and instill self- confidence in him.
