Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences has been selected as the Regional Training Organization (RTO) by the American Heart Association under IIEMS (ITO) for the eastern India. This is an honor for us & a much cherished achievement for RTIICS.

On 25^th January, 2007 Mr. Mark Forgues, Director, American Heart Association was here to confer the certificate for the Regional Training Organization (RTO). The beautifully decorated & well lit lawns of Sunderban at ITC Sonar Bangla at Kolkata made the occasion a more memorable day for us. The audience for the night was Senior Bureaucrats, highly placed officials from the US Consulate, Senior Dignitaries , Senior Police Officers, Cardiologists & staff of our Hospital. The whole programme was conducted by Ellora who in the in charge of our Academic Cell. She was assisted by Hetal Reshmi, Kanchan, Soumi & Pritha to conduct the whole show.

She invited Mr. Mark Forgus, Dr. George Abraham - Director Emergency Medicine, Troy USA, Dr. Tomorish Kole - Director IIEMS, Dr. A. Raghuvanshi-Vice-Chairman, Asia Heart Foundation, Dr.Kunal Sarkar - Director-Administrative Services RTIICS & Dr. Sujoy Ranjan Deb, Director-Regional Training Organization (RTO) to the Dias. The much awaited certificate of Regional Training Organization (RTO) was handed over to our Vice Chairman Dr. A. Raghuvanshi by Mr. Mark Forgus amidst lauds of applause by the audience.

The august gathering was overwhelmed to hear the oration by Mr. Mark Forgus. He was splendid. So was Dr. George Abraham. Last but not the least Dr. Tomorish Kole in his presentation kept the audience thoughtful about the issues of Emergency Medicine & EMS. The inaugural programme was called to an end with vote of thanks by Dr. S.R. Deb.

A Regional Training Organization (RTO) is an organization, which has contracted with the American Heart Association to provide basic and/or advanced adult and pediatric life support training courses to the community it serves.

The mission of the Regional Training Organization at Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences is to reduce disability and death from cardiac and respiratory emergencies and stroke by improving the Chain of Survival in every community. By placing the American Heart Association’s ECC Programs in the community along with Regional Training Organization as an integral part of its day-to-day life, public awareness and education in basic and advanced life support will increase, and more lives will be saved.
