An Electrocardiogram
(ECG or
EKG) records the heart’s electrical patterns. Leads
(wires) are attached to your arms, legs and chest. They are
connected to a machine that shows the electrical patterns on
a screen.

A resting ECG is done while you’re sitting or lying
down. It can show whether your heart has already been
damaged by a heart attack.

A stress ECG is done while you’re exercising on a
treadmill or stationary bike. It shows how your heart
respond to exercise. Tell the doctor if your feel
Angina during this stress test.
