Introduction |
|
The course entails training of students in both theoretical and
practical aspects of laboratory medicine. The student would be
trained in all the various aspects of phlebotomy clinical chemistry,
haematology, clinical pathology, microbiology, serology and blood
banking. On completion of the course, the student would be able to
perform as a laboratory technician in all branches of laboratory
medicine. |

Training |
|
Training is imparted in bio-chemistry, haematology and microbiology
at the laboratory and blood bank facility in
Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences.
Students will have to take monthly internal assessment exams and
annual university exams. Periodic tests are also conducted on
completion of various chapters. Practical training is imparted in
all branches of laboratory medicine by rotation. |

Eligibility |

SSLC (or equivalent) or PUC
(or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry Biology)
-
Students with an SSLC undergo
a 3-year programme while those who have passed PUC undergo a
2-year programme

Students who have not cleared
their PUC exams will also undergo a 3-year training programme

Admissions |
|
Application forms are issued at the beginning of the academic year
(May/June) each year and are available at
Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences.
Candidates will be screened and selected after an interview. |

Note:
Students who join the 3-year programme will undergo theory and
practical classes in Physics, Chemistry Biology and English. All
these subjects are at the standard of PUC or equivalent. |
